July 30th will mark the long-awaited reopening of the Ethnographic Park & Botanical Garden Pirámides de Güímar, a large 67,000m2 open-air museum that offers, in these times of social distancing and search for open spaces, an outdoor experience, without crowds of people, or small closed spaces. Pirámides de Güímar is a large outdoor museum space, twice nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award, in addition to being one of the five official Botanical Gardens of the Canary Islands.
The Ethnographic Park has prepared appropriately for this reopening, limiting the capacity in closed spaces, complying with all hygiene and social distancing measures to guarantee the safety of the visitors and the enjoyment of its extensive facilities. Fortunately, the space available makes it easy to maintain a safe distance between people, since Pirámides de Güímar has 30,000m2 of garden areas accessible to the public, located along a path that surrounds the complex of six stepped pyramids, astronomically oriented to the sun.
The Park also has four open-air routes, which visitors can stroll along at their leisure, discovering interesting exhibitions about the culture, history, nature and geology of the Canary Islands, as well as the botany, well represented in the Botanical Garden, which boasts over 250 plant species. Without forgetting the specialized gardens, such as the extraordinary Poison Garden, unique in Spain, or the renowned Sustainable Garden, created in collaboration with the University of La Laguna.
Furthermore, Pirámides de Güímar reopens its doors with a novelty, a notable exhibition entitled ‘An ocean… of plastic’, a result of the ongoing Sustainability program that the museum has been developing for years.
All this in a space where they strive to surprise the most curious minds and offer a different experience to lovers of culture and nature of all ages, in a unique and safe environment.
This August, Pirámides de Güímar encourages residents of the island to visit the Park, with a free admission offer for children residents (Valid from July 30th to August 31st. Not valid for groups).
